The Village

Kettlewell has long been known as a great place for a holiday

Kettlewell is a long established village, mentioned in the Doomsday Survey of 1086 when it was known as Cheteleuuelle which means a bubbling stream or spring, it later became known as Ketelwell in 1189.

Kettlewell is a thriving traditional dales village with approximately 300 houses, a Village Hall, which is available for hire, a Church, a primary school and childrens' playing field.

Other amenities include 3 Pubs, the Bluebell Hotel dating back to 1680 (shown top right),the Racehorses Hotel a coaching inn from 1740 and the Kings Head located close to the village church, they all serve food at lunch time and evening, both bar meals and restaurant meals are available.

Two Tea Rooms serve food all day from breakfast through to evening Bistro style meals. There is also a Post Office and Village Store along with a village garage offering mechanical services and selling fuel.

The larger village of Grassington is just 6 miles away with a good selection of shops and a bank.

The traditional market town of Skipton has the usual high street shops, Tesco and Morrisons supermarkets and is just 15 miles away, 30 minutes drive.
